It should be noted that ODM has been fine with Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka serving as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament for over a year now. Instead of the shouting matches in rallies and funerals, ODM leadership should be telling Kenyans why they want to have the slot. They should be telling Kenyans that A, B, C, was our agenda that was going to benefit Kenyans but kalonzo refused to include it. They should also tell Kenyans what they have achieved with their majority in the House. Just asking for more power seems just petty and silly.

ODM should leave the government if they can’t stand President Kibaki’s arrogance and aloofness. Now that they won the elections in 2007, why do they have to take all the mistreatment from a President who has showed time and again that he doesn’t care? They could then use their majority to vote for the proposed electoral commission before passing a vote of no confidence in the government and the President. That would be what confident and determined party would do.

As the country goes down to ruins with widespread insecurity, Kenyatta University burnt down, economy in decline, education in a mess, rocketing unemployment, territorial integrity under threat, food shortages and internal refugees still in Red Cross Camps, the president has the courage to hold a press conference to tell the world about his wives, the prime minister is complaining about the size of the carpet on his podium. How trivial, I hope that Kenyans are watching and learning.
